The King's Table Ministry
Why the King's Table you ask? It's starts with the story of
a boy who faced adversity early in life. He lost the use of
his legs in a freak accident and then spent his formative
years feeling like an outcast, a nobody...full of regrets on
how life gave him a raw deal. Have you ever felt like
that? I know I have.
Sometimes life is real unfair. We want more out of life, yet it seems we can never catch a break. If someone ever needed to catch a break, it was the boy in this story, Mephibosheth. By the age of five, his whole life had been turned upside down. His grandfather, King Saul, and his father, Jonathan, had both been killed. He went from being a young boy running through the palace halls dreaming of one day becoming king to being a cripple who lived in hiding with seemingly nothing left to live for. From royalty to rags. Wait a minute... isn't the story supposed to be rags to riches? Where is Extreme Home Makeover when you need it? This is a sad story that demonstrates just how unfair life can be at times. I can identify with Mephibosheth. At the age of six I lost my left leg in a lawn mowing accident. In 1994, I was hit by a semi-truck and was left with my left arm paralyzed. I may not have started out as royalty but I understand feeling like "rags"! So why the "King's Table Ministry"? Because God in His goodness never intends for us to live out our lives in "rags". God has a purpose for every single person, even me and Mephibosheth! With Mephibosheth, God had a promotion in mind. He had King David send for him and offer him a seat at the king's table. It had nothing to do with feeling sorry for Mephibosheth or that somehow he had done enough good deeds in his life to merit the king's favor. It had everything to do with the goodness of God and His desire to show favor on Mephibosheth. Guess what? God has a promotion in mind for you and I too! We can't earn it and we certainly don't deserve it, but it's waiting for us if we will simply have faith and believe. There is a seat at the King's table for each one of us. It's reserved with our name on it. No matter how unfair life has been to you, God wants to promote you. In His eyes,(and because of Jesus)... you're royalty! Don't waste your life feeling like a nobody! Regardless of how unfair things may seem right now, know that the eyes of God are on you. His hand of favor is stretched towards you. True "riches" are in your future. You've been given the ultimate promotion...a seat at the King's table. I've taken my place there... won't you do the same? |
